Contract

ASU finally posted my degree after a few calls from me about it. They told me that each degree can take up to an hour to post and they had over 1000 education degrees to post. I couldn't get my contract until they had proof I had my masters so I convinced ASU to post it for me today since my job depended on it. A very nice lady told me it would be completed by 10:30 am and it was. So I officially have my Master of Education!!!! I sent all of my information to the H.R. department and was told they will call me about coming down to sign my contract. YEAH!!! Then it will be official and I will be a Kindergarten teacher.

Here is a basic list of what it takes to be a Kindergarten teacher.
Patience
Lots of Smiles
Knowledge of the letters and every sound they make
Patience
Understanding
Love to sing
Did I say Patience yet?
I'm sure the list will get longer.

I am excited to begin and as Uncle Keith pointed out I may not be posting as often as my Dad, Justin or Lindsay.

For the summer I am working two days a week as a childcare worker at my Mom's school. On Tuesdays we go to the pool and Thursdays we go on trips to museums or movies, etc. I will also be taking a class needed for my certificate. Not too much fun but also a nice relaxing summer. Much different than my last one.

Letter of Intent

I was offered a Kindergarten position at a school in Casa Grande yesterday. I had interviewed with them on Tuesday and the team seemed great and the principal was very nice. It is about 45 minutes from the house without traffic but I do not want to wait to July to see if the schools near me open up any positions. It should be the opposite direction of traffic most of the way. I received my letter of intent, which just says they plan on offering me a contract and I plan on accepting it. They still have to complete a background check and then the superintendent has to sign off on hiring me. If all goes well I will start there on July 28th for a week of new hire orientation, a week to get my room ready, and then students start August 10th. I am very excited and can't wait to start teaching in my own classroom.

*Check back in the fall for more updates and stories about what is going on in my classroom.*

Graduation!

I am very excited to be graduating on Friday. It has been a long 11 months to get this program completed. My parents really wanted me to walk so I did have to get my cap, gown, and hood. My ceremony is only for Education majors from my college so they said the ceremony shouldn't be longer than an hour and a half. I have finished all my course work but I am waiting on my grade from my final research paper. If I get an A, I will have a 4.0. I have to thank GrandDad and GrandMom for helping me out. Hopefully GrandDad will feel up to going out to dinner on Friday. I also have to thank my parents for editing my papers and for dealing with my frustrations! Here is one more person I should thank. She helped me a lot!!!

Please still pray for the job situation here. It is a bad time to try to go into Education.
